Privacy notice on the use of the guest WiFi
This notice explains how we process your personal data when you use the guest WiFi network (G-WiFi) at an Allianz Global Investors locations.
Purpose
We process the following personal data to provide and manage your G-WiFi access:
- your first and last name, email address, company name (if provided) and login credentials, to create and manage your guest account; and
- your device name and MAC address while your account exists, stored temporarily in our central network access control system (Cisco ISE), to authenticate and administer access.
We also use this data to protect our network and prevent misuse.
Legal basis for the processing
We normally process your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing secure, reliable G-WiFi and preventing misuse, under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR or the equivalent ground under applicable local law. Where local law instead requires your consent, we rely on the consent you give when you connect to and use the G-WiFi. By connecting to the G-WIFI, you hereby give consent to such processing.
Reading or storing information on your device, particularly its name and MAC address, is strictly necessary to provide the WiFi service you request. This is based on the applicable local law implementing Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy Directive). Where local law requires consent, you consent by connecting to the G-WiFi.
Storage period
We set up your G-WiFi account for a specified validity period. We generally keep your account data until that period expires, unless legal or security reasons require longer retention.
If you do not use your account within 30 days after its validity period begins, we automatically delete it.
If you use your account at least once, we automatically delete it and its associated personal data 30 days after the validity period ends, unless the account is extended during those 30 days. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.
Recipients of the data
Within the Allianz Global Investors group, only teams that need your personal data for the purposes described above may access it. These include local IT and reception, and the central network operations function administered by Allianz Global Investors GmbH in Germany, which operates the global WiFi infrastructure and central sponsor portal.
